As a volunteer, I learned the great value that individuals with disabilities have in our society. In addition, I realized that, there is a lack of awareness to provide these individuals with the adequate support. In order for students with disabilities, to be independent contributing members of society. Teachers and parents have to provide the necessary tools for our children to succeed. I have always believed that, in order to have a just and equal society, everyone has the right to be included, treated fairly and assume competence.
I am aware of the importance of teaching embedded life skills into a modified adapted curriculum. I am thankful to be working with a team of dedicated paraprofessionals, teachers, administrators and multidisciplinary team members. We all share the same vision for our students.
Lastly, the central value for teachers and related service professionals at Willard, is to keep up with the latest research based teaching strategies, but we also share a 21st century vision. Our school vision centers on the 4C's critical thinking, collaboration, communication and creativity.
